In case of a fire, the observer should immediately contact the Illinois State University Police Department by dialing "911." Calls from campus phones are routed to the Illinois State University Police Department (ISUPD), where a dispatcher is on duty 24 hours a day. The dispatcher will contact the Normal Fire Department for assistance. Note: If calling from a cell phone or off campus phone, your call will be routed to Metcom, a county wide dispatch center. Please advise the operator that the call is an ISU campus emergency.

Please take the following steps so that you are prepared before an emergency occurs:
Faculty staff and students will automatically receive alerts to their official Illinois State University e-mail account (YourUlid@ilstu.edu).
Please read the following HelpDesk Knowledgebase articles to familiarize yourself with the Emergency Alert system:
You are also encouraged to provide the following additional points of contact for emergency alerts to increase your likelihood of receiving these critical messages in the event of an emergency. To add or update your emergency contact points, sign in to the iCampus Portal. Your information will be stored securely, and will only be used for ISU Emergency Alerts and scheduled system tests. Emergency Alerts will be sent to the contact points you designate in iCampus, in the order listed below until you confirm that you have received the alert.
This is the preferred contact, being the most reliable in an emergency situation. Only valid 10-digit phone numbers will be accepted. Checking the “update local phone number” will also update your local contact information with the University.
Your campus e-mail address is automatically included in emergency notifications.
Many people closely monitor an alternate e-mail account. Your alert will be sent to your alternate address in addition to your ilstu.edu account.
For faculty and staff: This contact is for the actual land-line where you are likely to be reached during work hours. Typically this is your desk phone number. Only valid 10-digit phone numbers will be accepted.
For students: You may not have mobile coverage at home or may turn off your mobile phone at night. Only valid 10-digit phone numbers will be accepted.
Please review your Emergency Alerts contact information periodically, and remember to update your points of contact as they change.
